Avatar, The Movie (2009)

Today me and my family went to see "Avatar". Over all, I think that the movie was really exciting and adventurous. There were also parts that were very sad.

An exciting part was when Jake was fighting with the Colonel with the three scratches on the side of his face. It was the end of the final battle between the humans and the Na'vi. The Colonel is an aggressive and very courageous man. His hair is almost all white and he has three scratch marks on the side of his head. his personality is audacious and bold. It seemed that his main goal in life was to have power. He even sent out a spy to get special intel on the "enemy", just like the way that George Washington used his spies in the Revolutionary War. The only thing that the "enemies", the Na' vi, really cared about was the existence of they're own species and nature. See below for more description. So what happened in the last battle? This battle was between the leaders of the worlds. The leader of the Na'vi world was Jake Sully, who betrayed humankind for the Na'vi. The Colonel used his armor suit which is this huge robotic armor that has the capability to do exactly what the person inside was doing, from shooting a gun, to jumping in the air. It could do it all. All that Jake had was... his hands. So the fight started out between Neytiri and the Colonel. She attacked with one of the native animals. She was able to weaken the armor a bit. But they were not strong enough. Just as she was about to get killed Jake attacked. He used whatever he could find. Which was the chain gun that the Colonel had used with his armor. Jake used it to break off the blade of the armor knife. While fighting with Jake, the Colonel broke the windows of the trailer that Jake and Grace were using for the body transformation. So here the Avatar body was in danger of being killed because the real body was in danger of losing oxygen. Eventually, the real body couldn't get enough oxygen, but was already breathing hard from the battle. Then he had to come out of the chamber to the oxygen mask. He couldn't. Meanwhile, since Avatar Jake fainted Neytiri had to finish the battle from which she struggle for she was injured. Finally she was able to get the arrows through his chest. Because Jake and Neytiri had already mated, it was hard for her to let it go. So she went into the trailer and found the real Jake unconscious. She got him the mask and after several deep breathes, he was able to regain consciousness.

Another really cool part was when Jake was choosing his banshee. The banshee that chose him, would be the one that wanted to kill him. And I laughed at that part. It was amusing to see how aggressive he was thriving to get this banshee under control. A funny thing was when he had his first flight how when he got mad and screamed "Shut Up And Fly Straight!!!!", the banshee did that exactly.

A really sad part was when the HomeTree was being destroyed by the Colonel. I think that there is a lot of truth in this story about the government and their desire to own more stuff. This is a population of living creatures with feelings and very strong emotions for nature that they are trying to conquer and kill. The people had physical bonds with nature and were very connected to living beings.

This was one of the best movie's I've seen, that's got truth, action and excitement.

My favorite quote, by far!!

So recently Jay Leno and Conan O' Brian have been dealing with some NBC time slot issues. And when I watched the commercials and news reports, my favorite quote was, "If you don't want people to see me, leave me on NBC." Conan O'Brian said that and I think that it's really funny. Because they are trying to make irony there. NBC is one of the best network television stations, so they're saying that NBC sucks. Another example to prove this is that they always make jokes about it.

A couple weeks ago, Jay Leno was 'test driving' Bing Image search. Saying that Bing is saying that they have the most customizable and detailed search engines. So he typed in "train wreck+Hindenburg+Titanic" and NBC popped up. I was laughing so hard. And it's pretty funny too. Don't ya think?

The E-Vent!!!!!!

So in our school we are doing the E-vent in place of Greek Day.

I WANT A CAT!!!!

Background Info:

Over the time period that Dad was visiting China, Crystal's fishy died, probably because the water wasn't fresh or something odd like that. So today (MLK Jr. US Federal Holiday) we decided to go out and buy another. Bad idea.

Dad said we'd go in the afternoon, and we did. We went to PetSmart, where we originally got the fish. And we got our fish. I kept telling Crystal to get a male Betta fish because males are just much more beautiful and colorful than the female Betta fish. But she still chose the female one. We also picked out some color enhancing food for them.

For the record I blame the chaos you are about to hear on Ingrid. She decided she wanted to see "every single everything" in the store. So we walked around the place. Pointing out cool products here and there. Then there was the ultimate trouble. The Adoption Center!!!! They had tons of cats there. Uh-oh. The twins became obsessed with them and stared obsessively wanting a cat. So all the way home they were screaming and yelling "I WANT A CAT!!!!" We didn't even buy the fish for Crystal because they were acting that way.

That's what I call chaos, but I'm okay with it since I have to deal with it every. single. day. it's such a drag.

The reward: Dad says that if they jump rope one hundred jumps consecutively, he'd buy them a cat. Good luck with that twins! They can barely jump one hundred with out a jump rope. Both of them have to jump one hundred, two hundred jumps total.

MLK Jr Day

Today we have a day off from school because of MLKJr. Day. This day is celebrated in honor of Reverend Martin Luther King Junior. It is always celebrated on the third Monday of January, around his birthday, January 15. This day is one of the four US Federal Holidays. Which are days that commemorate an individual person.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a spokesperson for nonviolent activism during the civil rights movement. Which also successfully protested against racial discrimination.

I'm gonna go enjoy my day off!!!

YOBC- 1/17/10

Today was the second rehearsal of YOBC. The spring semester.

And we especially worked on the song "Mountain Spring" by Dean Marshall. I hate Dean Marshall. Or this piece anyway. Before the semester started I was really excited for this song. It sounded really cool (I looked for it on YouTube). But, in reality, it's a night mare. Because of these three things.

1.Both the first and second violin has divisi. So basically each of the twelve violinists have their own part. Also, an effect of this would be that the music is really small. I literally have to strain my eyes to see the music clearly and be able to decipher each note.

2.This may just be me: I sit on the outside, and the outside gets to play the top, which is the none melodic part. It's A's then B's and then a little movement, then it goes back to the A's and B's. So much for sitting on the outside.

3. This song is fast and rhythms are corrupt. Instead of putting in quarter notes they put in tied eighths, that on top of the really small notes is really terrible.

The only good thing is that second violin (us) has the melody for about half the page and it's really exciting. The song really reminds me of spring, it's really flow-y and cheerful.

The other cool song would be by our very own: MICHAEL FLYNN!!!!!! He wrote this piece and I bet it was inspired by "Mountain Spring". It's also very cheerful. The part I like about it the best is the several measures that reflects the spring storms. The song is all happy go lucky, then subtly turns into a horrifying storm, then goes back to the I feel like I wanna skip and sing mood.

That's the way that I feel about the two more exciting songs that Philharmonia, Spring 2010 will be playing. The other songs are pretty exciting too. One song is the Mozart Fantasie. I, personally, like it more than all the other pieces because it's by the best composer of all time, I don't think I need to say the awesome word, because it's part of the awesome title, of hte awesome song. The song is a compilation of several different _______ pieces. One at a piu mosso speed, another at moderato. It's very, really cool. The other piece is "The Red Pony" from the film suite by Aaron Copland. I think it sounds basically like Copland took a handful of notes and just threw them on the page. From a mile away, with fierce winds, that's how wild the piece is. The time signatures look and sound like an invention that went terribly wrong. There is a 6/8 rhythm, which means that there are 6 eighth notes in a measure, and then there's a 5/4 time signature. Which is 5 quarter notes in a measure. That's CRAZY!!!!

Sidenote: No one writes music like that, it's torture to the musicians!!!!

Red Rock Canyon

Our primary goal at Las Vegas was to go to the Grand Canyon and other canyons to see the natural sites.

The concierge guy at the Venetian said that the roads to the Grand Canyon would be iced over. He also said that there was a ten miles stretch of road that was all dirt and didn't even have turn signs. And that that road would be too dangerous to travel if you had a rental car.

So instead that day we went to Red Rock Canyon, about a half an hour drive perpendicular to the Strip.

We made one stop on our way to the canyon, which was Red Rock Spring. It is a smaller rock that sort of looks at the red rock.

We stopped there to use the bathroom. We also decided to climb, kind of, to the top, but got about half way there, then it just started to go directly up. And we gave up.

My new favorite hobby that only applies to Red Rock Spring was that if you picked up any rock, it would be limestone. What's even cooler is that when you throw it against any rock it will explode! It's so weak that a little bit of pressure like that can crush it to bits.

It's really cool.

When we actually got to the Red Rock, I got a T-Shirt that say Red Rock Canyon on it.

We went on the scenic drive, 13 miles and we stopped at the first and third stops.

The first stop was boring, just a hole in the ground, the third one was much better.

My mom told me that at the third one you could go and climb the red rock. And we did, it was kind of scary. For example if you started sliding down you wouldn't stop for a while. But the advantage was that there was actually traction against the rocks with your shoe.

So basically the plane is really boring and my favorite thing to do when I get bored is listen to music when there's no computer or book available. BTW: Reading on a vehicle in fast motion makes me wanna puke my guts out. It makes me feel like cr*p, I'm serious, I can't do it.

It's a good thing that I brought my iPod Touch (of course I did, it's an ultimate gaming system, you can put tons of games on it). But gaming all the tie doesn't seem like the way to go. What was the original purpose of the iPod? It's an MP3 player not and applications runner, not the original one anyway.

So iListened to my favorite music, a little bit of Pitbull, some Jay Sean and of course Lil Wayne. Throw in a little Cascada. I also listened to some classical music, like Mozart, as prescribed by the Doctor, Dr. Wang. He says it's critical toward my violin playing which is classical, pop violin doesn't sound to good. And I do have to agree with him when he says Classical music has more theory than pop. No offense but it's more in depth than hip-hop and rap and pop and alternative. The melody is way more lyrical than the words (<-- haha) that hip hop has. Listen to a classical piece, pay attention to the then listen to just the melody, not the lyrics, the melody of a pop song. It's really really simple compared to classical. Legit.

Six hours is really killer. The first three hours were okay. I got really tired of listening to the same fourteen songs over and over and over. Maino, Cascada, Pitbull, JaySean, Lil Wayne, Mozart, Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Iyaz, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Ke$ha then again, Maino, Cascada, Pitbull, JaySean, Lil Wayne, Mozart, Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Iyaz, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Ke$ha. For three hours. I decided to let my sisters play on the iPod for a while. I took a short nap.

Not only is six hours killer, baggage claim is too. I hate it. the idea of checking your bags is genius. You won't have to lug it around onto to the plane, off the plane... But claiming it takes a lot of time too.
